SEPTEMBER 2018
Hi, my name is Stephanie. I am ten years old.
I am a first degree black belt. I obtained my first degree black belt on Saturday, July 7, 2018. This is my Taekwondo Story.

When did you start Fair Lawn Taekwondo?
"I started Fair Lawn Taekwondo in 2015, at the age of 8 years old."

Did you have any prior experience with Taekwondo or any
other martial art program?
"No, I do not have any prior experience."
What lead you to start your journey with Taekwondo?
"I was in a incident and I began to help defend myself better."

What obstacles (if any) did you have to overcome to obtain
your current belt level?
"I feel like my own obstacle was myself because
I was the one telling myself you can't do it.
It really wasn't anybody but myself."

What have you gained from taking Taekwondo?
"A sense of respect for others. More confidence in myself and others."

What do you like most about Taekwondo?
"The way us classmates get to bond and to get to know each other.
While at the same time learning and working hard."

As you grow older, how do you see Taekwondo playing
an integral part in your life?
"Helping me develop into the best person I can be.
And teaching me important life lessons along the way."

Has there been any change to your approach to challenges
and/or obstacles after taking Taekwondo? Why do you feel
there is a difference to your approach now?
"I feel slightly more confident and I do feel like things and
my perspective have changed. Instead of just giving up I now
think to myself, if I'm going down, I'm not going down without
a fight."

What advice would you give younger Taekwondo students or
lower belt rank students?
"That they should work hard, practice, so they can get where they
want to be. That they should give it their all 250%. If you never
try you will never know."

What would you like to be when you grow up?
"A doctor of any kind or variety. That would be my dream job."
