Hi, my name is Nethra. I am ten years old.
I received my black belt on March 24, 2018.
This is my Taekwondo Story. ​
What are some of your hobbies?
"Reading, art, playing the piano and violin."

When did you start Fair Lawn Taekwondo?
"I started Taekwondo on May 9, 2014."
​
Did you have any prior martial arts experience?
"No."
​
What led you to start your journey with Taekwondo?
"My mother wanted me to have a boost of confidence and she
wanted me to learn a martial art."

What obstacles (if any) did you have to overcome to obtain your current belt level?
“Learning to memorize the forms and challenging myself physically
was the toughest thing I had to learn to overcome.”
What have you gained from taking Taekwondo?
"Strength, confidence, respect for my friends and discipline."

Did you notice any change to how you approach challenges and obstacles?
“I am not scared to take new challenges as I feel more confident.
I try not to panic when it gets tough."

Have you noticed any changes in how you react to a challenging situation?
“I take a challenging situation more slowly and calmly.”
​
What advice would you give a new student?
“Discipline is very important in martial arts. Sometimes, you feel like you
cannot do something; but don't worry you will overcome it. Practice and
patience always helps."
​
What advice would you give your younger self and older self?
“To my younger self, I would say you are doing awesome just relax and
keep doing it because you are getting your black belt. To my older self, I would
say never give up keep on going. Don't listen to what others say about you ever."
What would you like to be when you grow up?
"A music artist, doctor, teacher."

How will your training from Fair Lawn Taekwondo help you achieve your goals?
"It will help me stay confident in whatever I do. Master Yoon teaches me how
to focus and that helps me focus on my goals."
