MAY 2018
“Hi, my name is Kimberly Paton and I am a Green Belt
at Fair Lawn Taekwondo. I’m also 56, the mother of a high school
senior and college junior, owner of the Paton Law Firm in Paramus
and a recent widow.
With both of my children soon off to college, I knew I would
have more time on my hands so I wanted to take up a hobby.
I was searching for the right fit. I have always been involved
in martial arts.
When I was in college I studied Taekwondo for four years.
My children studied martial arts when they were young.
In December, the inspiration hit me - I want to be a Black Belt.
I was afraid I was too old. I called Master Yoon and
explained my situation. I repeatedly highlighted my age.
Master Yoon was perfect. He was accepting, encouraging and understanding. He got me involved in class right away.
The students are also friendly, accepting and encouraging.
I feel very comfortable in the class.
Master Yoon is always aware to remind me to do the best I can, take
a break and feel good about what I am accomplishing. If he thinks something may be too strenuous, he tells me to take it easy.
The classes have added exercise and stretching to my life -
two things that are important for a healthy lifestyle.
I also feel a great accomplishment as I work toward my
goal to be a Black Belt.”
