FEBRUARY 2020
Meet Ellie Blank.
She is 7 years old and a junior black belt.
Ellie had received her junior black belt in October 2019.

When Ellie isn't studying Taekwondo, she enjoys
her other hobby interests in music, art and gymnastics.
Ellie started Fair Lawn Taekwondo in 2017.
She did not have any prior martial art experience.
Her parents wanted an activity where Ellie can gain
self-confidence, discipline, and of course have fun!
As an added bonus, they always had found Master Yoon
to be a great teacher and a great environment to for
their daughter to learn a sport activity.
Ellie had some obstacles and worked really hard on
overcoming her shyness and her fear of unknown people
looking at her. Master Yoon played an integral part.

Through Taekwondo, Ellie has gained self-confidence,
knowledge of a martial art sport, and a sense of belonging
to a community group.

Ellie began noticing a change to how she approached
and reacted to a challenging situation.
She is now more self-confident and self-contained.

When Ellie was asked if there was any advice
she would give a future student.
Ellie said:
"Never give up. It will only get better."

When Ellie was asked if there was any advice she would give
her younger self and older self.
Ellie said:
"Don't be afraid of anything. Never give up."

Ellie is not sure yet on what she would like to be when
she grows up; maybe a doctor that saves people's lives.
"Believe in yourself and understand that small steps
will lead you to something big!"
