MAY 2019
Meet Alia Sendon. She is ten years old.
She received my junior black belt on January 18, 2017.

Alia enjoys drawing, gaming, and playing.

Alia started her Taekwondo journey,
with Fair Lawn Taekwondo on September 2, 2013.

Alia came to us with no prior experience in martial arts.
Her parents wanted her to build confidence, be fit,
be able to defend herself, and learn respect.

She found that she had to overcome a few obstacles
to obtain her current belt level. Alia had to practice her
form and become more accurate when attacking a target.
She also had to work through pain.
Alia was asked what she had gained from Taekwondo,
Alia answered,
"Strength and self defense."

Alia was asked, if she had noticed any change to how she approach challenges and obstacles. Alia answered,

“It became better and easier time after time."

Alia has noticed changes to how she reacts to a challenging situation.
“I am much more confident in myself.”

Alia was asked what advice she would give to a future student.
“I would tell them that it's not as hard as they think when
they come across challenges and they can persevere."

Alia's advice to her younger self and older self,
“They should always be confident in themselves and
try their hardest to persevere."
When Alia grows up, she wants to be a coder who creates video games.

Through Alia's training from Fair Lawn Taekwondo will help
achieve her goals by helping her to focus and become
more responsible. She also will learn that
through practice she can improve herself.
